Disclaimer: Only turn your system on once the Utility has given you permission to do so. You must turn your system on in order for it to produce or store electricity. The following instructions tell you how to do just that.
1. Electric Service Panel - Open the cover of your main electric service panel and look for a breaker or breakers labeled "solar" or "PV Breaker'" and/or "Powerwall" or "Storage Breakers". If it's not already in the "ON" position, push the handle all the way to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position. If you have have a solar or storage breaker in the electric panel, the next steps are all you need.
Note: If the breaker "trips" or turns off when you try to turn it on, leave it off and email email@example.com or call 310-340-0493 as it may require service before it can safely be turned back on.
2. Electrical Disconnect - Make sure the handles of any external electrical disconnects are in the "ON" position.
3. Inverter - Make sure the inverter's internal disconnects are in the "ON" position. You may have to search a bit and some even have two (i.e, SolarEdge). For the majority, it will look like a big circle that you twist or turn. If you find both AC and DC Disconnects, turn both to the "ON" position. If there is only one disconnect on your inverter, turn that one on. Once you are done, look on the inverter for solid green light that signals the system is fully functional.
Note: It can take up to 5 minutes for the inverter or storage system to turn on and sync with the grid.
4. Batteries/Storage - For Tesla Powerwall, be sure to switch the toggle switch on the upper right side of the battery (#7) to the "ON" or "I" position. Green lights will begin flashing indicating the batteries are communicating with the Tesla Backup Gateway. If the battery is charging or discharging the green light will pulsate. If the the battery is fully charged and/or in standby mode, it will be solid green.
Not all system are built the same so if you have trouble turning on your system email or call us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 310-340-0493 during normal business hours.
